ZUSAMMENFASSUNG DES TAGES – Japan setzte sich im Finale der FIFA U 20 Frauen-Weltmeisterschaft Frankreich 2018 gegen Spanien durch und gewann den Titel. Vor 15 Tagen hatte die Young Nadeshiko in der Gruppenphase noch eine 0:1-Niederlage gegen ihren heutigen Finalgegner kassiert. Doch im heutigen Spiel sorgten Miyazawa, Takarada und Nagano mit ihren Toren für die Entscheidung und den ersten Titelgewinn.
Zuvor hatte England das Spiel um Platz drei gewonnen. Georgia Stanway brachte die wie gewohnt beherzt aufspielenden Young Lionesses zunächst in Führung, ehe Emelyne Laurent ausglich und die endgültige Entscheidung im Elfmeterschießen fallen musste. Für England ist dieser dritte Platz das beste Abschneiden aller Zeiten bei diesem Turnier.

Fussball-Legenden treffen Volunteers
Nach mehr als einem Monat voller Hingabe, Lächeln auf den Gesichtern und guter Laune ging an diesem Tag auch das Volunteers-Programm in Vannes zu Ende. Mit ihrer Begeisterung und Freundlichkeit leisteten die freiwilligen Helfer einen wesentlichen Beitrag zum Gelingen des Turniers. Um Ihnen zu danken, besuchten Marcel Desailly, Marinette Pichon und Mikaël Silvestre das Freiwilligenzentrum. Die Fussball-Legenden sprachen mit den Volunteers über das Programm, beantworteten Fragen und nahmen sich die Zeit für Fotos und Autogramme.
Elfmeterschießen – das erste
Keine der vorherigen Partien in der K.o.-Phase musste im Elfmeterschießen entschieden werden, da die Teams den Sieg bereits in der regulären Spielzeit unter Dach und Fach bringen konnten. Dann kam das Spiel um Platz drei. Durch Treffer von Georgia Stanway und Emelyne Laurent stand es nach 90 Minuten 1:1, und das Spiel musste vom Punkt entschieden werden [Anm.d.Red.: Da im Anschluss das Finale stattfindet, gibt es im Spiel um Platz drei bei dieser Turnierreihe keine Verlängerung]. Den entscheidenden Treffer zum 4:2 für England erzielte Georgia Allen, die erst in der 92. Minute in die Partie gekommen war. Man kann also mit Sicherheit behaupten, das Englands Trainerin Mo Marley ein glückliches Händchen bewiesen hat.
Japan schwebt auf Wolke sieben
Nach der A- und der U-17-Frauennationalmannschaft des Landes, darf nun auch die Young Nadeshiko einen Weltmeistertitel bejubeln. Genau dieser Titel fehlte den Japanerinnen noch in ihrer Sammlung. Die Nadeshiko gewann 2011 den Titel – kurioserweise hatten das Team damals ebenfalls Deutschland im Viertelfinale besiegt. Die Little Nadeshiko triumphierte 2014 bei der FIFA U-17-Frauen-WM in Costa Rica. Der Gegner im Endspiel? Kein Geringerer als Spanien. Damit avancierte Japan zur einzigen Nation, die alle WM-Titel im Frauenfussball gewinnen konnte.

"Es war sehr schwieriges Spiel. Wir waren in der ersten Hälfte etwas vorsichtig. Das frühe Tor half uns, etwas Ruhe ins Spiel zu bringen.
